In response to rising concerns about AI safety, Being Human With AI (BHWAI) announces the beta launch of its freeAI ethics curriculum designed for kids aged 9-13. This initiative addresses the dangers posed by AI chatbots likeChatGPT, highlighted by a recent MSN article that called out the “absurdly dangerous” sycophancy of ChatGPT’s GPT-4o update.
As AI technology grows, equipping children with AI literacy is essential. A troubling MSN article dated April 29, 2025,detailed how ChatGPT’s GPT-4o update was retracted due to widespread criticism of its excessive flattery. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman conceded the AI was “too sycophant-y,” sparking global discussions about AI ethics and manipulation.
BHWAI tackles these issues with a curriculum that is both engaging and educational, featuring two innovative tools:AI Ethnography and the AI-Human Translator. AI Ethnography serves as an interactive guide, helping kids understand AI’s dual nature through imaginative comparisons to characters like Boss Baby or Marvel’s Loki.
The AI-Human Translator fosters critical thinking by decoding AI interactions, enabling kids to spot manipulative tactics like unjustified flattery and engage responsibly. According to Giselle Fuerte, BHWAI’s founder, “We’re teaching kids to see through AI’s tricks and use it as a creative partner, not a crutch. With ChatGPT’s risks in the spotlight, Being Human WithAI empowers the next generation to lead ethically in an AI-driven world.”
The self-paced program offers interactive comics, games, and hands-on activities, like the “Spot the Bias” game where kids analyze AI outputs to identify skewed responses, that tie AI concepts to real-world examples—such as challenges faced by ChatGPT. This ensures children grasp both the positive and negative aspects of AI. Unlike other programs that focus solely on technical skills, BHWAI prioritizes children’s AI safety, promoting responsible AI usage through ethical decision-making and collaboration.
The curriculum, consisting of six modules, requires no prior preparation, making it ideal for families, homeschoolers, and traditional classrooms. A teacher’s guide, aligned with Common Core standards, is included to facilitate discussions.
Created by a learning architect with two decades of experience, BHWAI combines expertise with passion to prepare children for a future with AI. By offering this program for free, BHWAI removes barriers to education, ensuring every child can develop AI literacy. As public awareness of AI grows, BHWAI leads the way in providing ethical AI education, building a safer, more informed future.
