At the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping once again raised poverty alleviation to a new strategic height, put forward new ideas and new goals for poverty alleviation, and pointed out that it is necessary to insist on targeted poverty alleviation. Back to the status quo, poverty alleviation work has entered a critical period of difficulty and significance.
According to the information at present, among the poor peasants in Nanchong, except strengthening medical assistance for the poverty due to family members’ illness, there is an urgent need for poverty alleviation industry with less investment, less risk, quick results, and income security for poor people with labor. Nanchong has been the city of silkworm since ancient times. So compared with other industries, the development of the sericulture industry chain is long, and it can drive the primary, secondary, and the tertiary industry. It also combines the long and short term. Therefore, the revival of the silkworm industry is imperative.
The Belt and Road bringing new opportunities
China’s sericulture silk industry is facing the historical opportunity of exploring the international market, revitalizing the Belt and Road, and the overall westward shift of the industry which are being enlarged and strengthened. PFGHL seizes the current opportunities and vigorously develops agriculture in Nanchong, builds a sericulture base, expands the income of silkworm farmers, makes the mountains greener, and makes the people richer.
On April 9th, the representative of Nanchong Factory, Xu Shaolin participated in the 4th China Fruit and Mulberry Industry Development Conference and Silkworm Silk Industry Development Forum held in Dechang County, Liangshan. Chen Mengshan, the former party secretary of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said in the forum, “Grasp the relationship between the domestic market and international market development of sericulture silk, especially the Belt and Road market. Effectively manage the two markets as a whole. Strengthen the organization and self-discipline of the industry and make the relevant subjects of production and sales of sericulture silk form a united collective, and fully play the influence and leading power that our country should have in the world.”
Xu Shaolin said at the meeting that our company will continue to increase the development of sericulture industry in Yilong County, Nanchong, build a sericulture base and a whole industrial chain project of organic clothing, and strive to build a complete industrial chain of raising silkworm, weaving silk, dyeing and foreign trade. Last year, the scale of the base has reached 5,000 mu, mainly concentrated in Yilong County, Nanchong. This year, the base will expand more 10,000 mu to promote the control of silkworm silk from planting to processing and production, to ensure the quality and safety of raw material supply.
Deep cultivation of silkworm industry achieving targeted poverty alleviation
Since PFGHL invested in Nanchong from 2013, Nanchong Factory has built a 130-mu garment production base in the Hexi Industrial Concentration Zone of Xinzheng Town, Yilong County, providing jobs for more than 500 local people, with an annual production of 500,000 pieces of clothing. In the first half of 2018, the export transaction exceeded 50 million yuan, and it has become a major foreign exchange earning enterprise in Nanchong City.
At the beginning of 2018, PFGHL established Bombyx to develop organic mulberry leaf planting and silkworm breeding, produce organic silk materials and silk products, solve local agricultural development problems, and help poor farmers improve their living standards.
In the future, PFGHL will attach importance to the bifilar development of agriculture and industry, introduce the latest scientific technology, intelligent and automated mechanical equipment, and create a chain project of the whole garment industry supply, providing one-stop service from planting mulberry to breeding silkworms, weaving silk, whitening, printing and dyeing, garment manufacturing, then to exporting.
