26-Year-Old Entrepreneur Uses His Personal Story as a Platform to Inspire Others “Everywhere & Anywhere”

West Haven, CT – What began as an online hobby to pass the time in between college courses, has now turned into a side business for entrepreneur Paul Guarino. The now 26-year-old started PG Sports back in 2011 with a simple Twitter handle where he shared his passion for all things sports related. The PG Sports Twitter page has exploded to nearly 17,000 followers, a large number of those fans are professional sports athletes who believe in the online community Guarino has carefully created.

“I was just a sophomore in college when I launched PG Sports on social media, and I really had no expectations of it becoming a side business I am passionate about,” said Guarino. “It happened organically over time.”

As a child and young teen, Guarino played baseball and kept up with sports stats, players and games religiously. What many of his social media followers may not know is that Guarino suffers from spinal muscular atrophy. The medical condition led to his transition to a wheelchair full-time when he was just 19-years-old in his first year of college. Although the physical aspect of participating in sports became increasingly difficult, he did not let his condition define him or take away his love for sports.

“When I went to college no one knew that just a few years prior I was walking,” said Guarino. “They met me for the first time in my wheelchair, and that was something that overtime I had to mentally overcome. I made the conscious decision that I wasn’t going to let that impact me building new friendships and a creating a new life in college.”

Today PG Sports has its very own athletic clothing line that countless professional athletes have endorsed. Guarino coined “Everywhere and Anywhere,” which is his brand’s motto meant to inspire and motivate people to lead their best life. The popular slogan can be seen on several of his athletic wear, like t-shirts and tank tops. Beyond his clothing line, he’s also launched his own podcast, “Average to Savage,” which focuses on a number of topics, and not just solely sports. His professional goals for 2019 include launching a new clothing design each month and moving towards a weekly 30-40 minute podcast.

“I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to, and I try to make others have that mindset despite setbacks they may have in their own life,” said Guarino. “The only set back is if you don’t try. If you never go after your goals, the answer will always be “no,” and it doesn’t have to be that way if you just start!”

With each clothing item under $35, it’s not only an opportunity to “spread inspiration,” but also an economical and affordable purchase.

PG Sports hopes to use their brand messaging as a voice to encourage everyone to pursue their dreams and inspire others “Everywhere & Anywhere” on the journey through 2019.
