Never seen before | WooFDriver’s Huskies Exercising at a Horse Track as Horses get excited | Husky Dog Adventure

October 25 02:40 2018

Thirty five years ago, William ‘Bill’ Helman fell in love with Siberian Huskies. It wasn’t just one aspect of the dog that drew him in, but every part of them. It was their temperament, personality, beauty, and grace. It was the shared thrill of adventure and the common love of the wilderness.

He was only twelve. But that first dog, who happened to belong to his sisters-in-law, set in motion a series of events that would change Bill’s world. He devoured every bit of information on the breed that he could get his hands on… and then he began to discover his own facts by learning about the breed, hands on.

WooFDriver never knows what kind of adventures he and his WooFPak are going to come across when he takes his four husky dogs—Princess, Zarro, Chase, and Jag—out on an urban mushing adventure.

One day a few years ago, on his way to a trail with the dogs, WooFDriver drove past a horse track in Hydes, Maryland. Taken by the horses’ beauty, WooFDriver pulled over to get a better look at them. As he began to pull over, the dogs, who were ready to run, started to get excited. That was not too unusual because the dogs love to go urban mushing, but WooFDriver noticed, that the dogs must have seen or smelled the horses because they were even more excited than usual!

The dogs’ interest was piqued and the horses’ excitement at seeing the dogs was just as charged. WooFDriver loved seeing the dogs’ and horses’ delight and later, as he and the dogs ran at the trail, he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He just knew the animals would enjoy being around one another and what a good match it would be between mushing dogs and racing horses!

When he got back home, WooFDriver decided to contact the manager of the track to see if it would be possible to bring the huskies back to take one of his Dog Powered Go-Carts for a run around the track. It would be awesome to let the horses and dogs interact, even if they were on opposite sides of a fence. The track, which is made of sand, would also make for a nice soft terrain for the dogs to run on.

The manager of the track was more than happy to have WooFDriver and the dogs come for a run. He told WooFDriver it is an official horse training track, and only one of very few remaining training tracks in Maryand, with a regulation 5/8th of a mile course.

When the day came for WooFDriver to run the WooFpak, it didn’t take long at all before the horses saw them and got excited. They quickly came over to see what WooFDriver and the dogs were doing. They’d never seen anything like that before!

By the end of the WooFPak’s run, the horses—more than a half a dozen beautiful black beauties—began running with the dogs on the other side of the fence! It was majestic. After such a fun afternoon, and after seeing the horses and dogs interacting so playfully (and competitively) WooFDriver had another idea.

What if he could get the horses and dogs to race each other? WooFDriver decided he needed to get in touch with the manager again to see if there was any way they could make the horse and husky race happen!
